Steel Tip - Tungsten
Tungsten, unlike brass and nickel-silver, is a very heavy and dense metal. It is usually mixed with nickel so, tungsten will come in 70, 80, 90 and 97 percent mixtures. The higher content of tungsten, the more costly the dart. Even though tungsten is more difficult and costly to machine, it will last longer than other barrel materials (especially the knurling). The greater content of tungsten, the heavier the barrel. A 24 gram tungsten dart will be approximately half the diameter of a 24 gram brass dart. This will allow for tighter groupings on the board. Tungsten is the choice of competitive players.
